HOW TO OBJECT

Having your say is very important. Simply write to the Yarra Ranges Council and say that you don’t want a fast-food restaurant on Hereford Road, and why.

There are 3 ways to make an objection:

  • Send an email to mail@yarraranges.vic.gov.au.

  • Mail your objection to Yarra Ranges Council, P.O. Box 105, Anderson Street, Lilydale, VIC 3140.

  • Hand deliver your objection to the Lilydale Community Link at 15 Anderson Street, Lilydale between the hours of 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Some tips for writing your objection:

  • Make it personal. How will this development impact you?

  • Object to a ‘fast-food restaurant’ or ‘convenience restaurant’ rather than a McDonalds. This will ensure that the plan can’t be changed to another fast food chain.

  • 19-23 Hereford Road is a residential zone, not a commercial zone. It should be reserved for homes or community spaces.

  • Focus on planning concerns rather than emotions. An objection to a planning application must be made on planning grounds. See The Issues page for examples of concerns to raise.

  • Address your objection to the Yarra Ranges Council.

  • Include the date, your name, your address and contact details.

  • Include the permit application reference number and the address of the proposal site - YR-2023/920, 19-23 Hereford Road, Mount Evelyn

At the time of writing, the status of the Application is Assessment of Further information and at this stage there is no published closing date for objections.

Thank you! Every objection helps. Please share this website to help spread the word.
